Of course I will be
delighted if you order Wisdom Stones ~ Touchstones to What Matters Most from
this site. It has taken me 15 years and not a little time, money and
energy to bring them to you. But maybe you love the stones, and the
idea of using your intention every day to change the world, but money is a
little tight right now. Or you are a crafty type that thinks "hey, I
could do that." Well, you can! Here are some
suggestions/directions for making your very own touchstones for your
personal use or to give as gifts. Another really cool thing to do is
to have your children or youth groups make their own. Or women in a
safe house, or your women's group, or, or, or... use your imagination and
keep positive intentions flowing!
- Begin by getting some polymer clay that
can be baked in your home oven, such as Fimo and Sculpey. They
both come in a wide variety of colors for you to experiment with.
You can make your touchstones solid colors, or marble colors together
for a different look.
- When you are ready to make your stones,
begin with a few minutes of centering, meditation or prayer. Light
a candle, and bring your attention to your heart-center. Let
yourself become aware of the desire or longing of your heart; the desire
or longing or wish or hope or dream that has brought you to this moment
where you are about to create a stone (or stones). Or maybe you
just want to have fun and be creative - so allow yourself to feel that
energy. When you feel connected to yourself and your intention, begin.
- Take a small amount of clay and form it
into a "stone" that feels good in your palm.
- Use a small, flat edge screwdriver to
press letters into the clay to form the words of your intention, or of
the peace prayer, for example. If you try to write like you do
with a pen, you will just bunch up the clay.
- When you are done creating, follow
package instructions to bake your touchstones.
